In this new leadership position, the People Operations Director is responsible for both the big picture strategic approach and in-the-weeds work of People Operations. As a strategic partner, they play a key role in the implementation and co-design of a plan to scale Vote Mama while supporting the PAC, 501 (c)(3) Foundation, and 501(c)(4) Lobby. The Director is the architect of employee engagement, including the recruitment of outstanding talent and co-creation of a best-in-class culture that reflects core values around racial equity, diversity, belonging and fostering meaningful relationships in and outside of the organization.
The People Operations Director will guide Vote Mama leadership and staff through a period of scaling and opportunity, while being intentional about maintaining the organization's goals and values. Through implementing processes, tools, training, and policies, you can ensure the passionate, creative team at Vote Mama has the structure to grow and thrive as individuals and an organization. As the first People Operations Director, you will have the latitude to implement innovative approaches and build systems from the ground up, and we hope you will bring the skills, expertise, and passion to do so.
The ideal candidate for this position is a seasoned people operations professional with experience building and scaling progressive organizations. The People Operations Director will report to Corie Pope Lieberman, Chief Development Officer.

- 7+ years experience in Human Resources or related fields, with experience as a senior People Operations leader
- Demonstrated experience creating and implementing people operations strategies, processes, tools, and trainings
- Demonstrated ability to guide an organization scaling quickly, centering a positive employee experience
- Ability to train managers and guide employees through the entire employee lifecycle from recruitment to offboarding
- Commitment to learning and implementing current best practices in the people operations field

People Operations Management
- Build People infrastructure and carry out regular operations, including payroll, benefits administration, performance management, team engagement, recruitment and onboarding, and learning and development initiatives
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations and develop and implement policies, processes, training, and initiatives to support human resource compliance
- Maintain people systems and ensure data integrity in all processes and applications
- Audit, enhance, and develop HR practices
Organizational Culture Building
- Design and implement organizational structure to optimize staff utilization and collaboration
- Foster positive employee experience and support retention through opportunities to connect, learn, and act, resulting in increased trust and organizational impact.
- Support and develop VoteMama’s DEIJ skills and practices. Build upon existing initiatives, develop and implement racial justice, equity, diversity and inclusion efforts, integrating practices into recruitment, hiring, team building, culture setting, and professional development/advancement, while centering equity in all programs and operations.
Employee Lifecycle & Performance Management
- Manage recruitment and hiring processes, including position definition, market research, outreach and posting, interviewing, and reference checking of qualified job applicants, collaborating with departmental managers to understand the skills and capacities required for hiring needs
- Develop and implement accessible onboarding and orientation processes and practices for employees and members
- Develop and iterate standards of skills and capacities at different position levels and commensurate salary bands; provide clarity of advancement opportunities and performance expectations
- Drive and support the evolution of Vote Mama’s performance management and two-way feedback processes
- Provide guidance around best practice and current trends in supporting productivity, recognition, engagement, and team-building initiatives and practices
- Prioritize occupational health and safety and accessibility for team members, providing training and regular support for employees
- Develop policies and tools to support performance improvement processes and oversee corrective action programs, terminations, and investigations

$105,000-$130,000
