The Ad Council’s DEI Department is looking for a Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging who will play a key role in supporting/leading our internal diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and commitments to being a more anti-racist organization. This includes but is not exclusive to supporting our Chief Equity Officer and External partners who are committed to advancing DEI across the Workforce, Workplace, Marketplace and Community.
The compensation for this position is within the range of be $90,000 – $110,000 (based on experience level). The compensation package also includes an annual incentive, comprehensive benefit offerings, and generous paid time off.
What you’ll do:
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
- Conduct research and monitor trends and best practices in DEI
- Contribute to creating and promoting a culture of equity, inclusion, commitment, accountability, and equity, leveraging diversity best practices, research, and benchmark data
- Lead employee-facing workstreams and initiatives to support our Racial Equity Strategy
- Manage project plans, budgets, timelines and communication plans for programs and initiatives
- Help to ensure stakeholders are updated and dots are connected across our DEI agenda and work, both within People Operations and the core business
- Build trust and rapport with staff to maximize need for cross functional work
- Consistently exercise discretion and good judgment, including sensitivity to confidential information, and cultural sensitivity and awareness related to individuals from wide-ranging background
- Manage operations surrounding the execution of internal D&I and L&D related programming such as All Staff and Department trainings
- Work with the DEI team and People Operations to help develop learning journeys and assessments.
Culture & Engagement
- Nurture and evolve departmental culture – Partner with departmental leaders and cross functional departments to drive strategic initiatives and interventions that integrate DEI frameworks/guiding principles as a foundation of departmental and organizational growth
- Oversee and collaborate with our Employee Resource Group (ERG) and Special Interest Group (SIG) Leads to build out the strategy and programs to drive engagement, belonging, and impact across these groups, while making sure that employees across the organization can access them
- Prioritize Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion program goals, understand and translate other stakeholders needs into program goals and prioritized deliverables with minimal assistance, and contribute to decisions on prioritizing goals and deliverables.
- Define the scope of projects and develop, execute, and/or manage project plans for supported program(s).
- Review key metrics pertaining to a program, monitor potential metric deviations, and define corrective actions for critical deviations.
- Identify, communicate, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders within one or more teams to drive impact and work toward mutual goals.

- 5+ years of experience working in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
- Have a passion for social good, racial justice and building strong communities
- An entrepreneurial spirit who thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to operate strategically and translate strategy into operational plans
- Exemplary program and project management skills with ability to oversee and deliver across multiple tasks & deadlines
- Ability to influence others without direct authority to achieve solutions, resolve issues and overcome hurdles to meet organization’s objectives
- Agility in taking nonlinear paths to shared outcomes
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Strong interpersonal and partnership skills with an ability to flex communication styles that are essential for interacting with key internal and external stakeholders to manage, inform and influence outcomes
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills
- Have excellent communication and partnership skills which
- Background in any of the following:
- Nonprofit, CSR or consulting
- Human Resources or Learning & Development
- Advertising or Multicultural Media Marketing
